Founded in 2008 by Mr Mohamed Hussain Bin Ismail, MHI Training Master is an accredited training provider approved by Ministry of Manpower to conduct Occupational First Aid Course and Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) to conduct Standard First Aid, Child First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) + Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) + AED Course.
In 2014, Mr Hussain’s son, Mohamed Hafeezuddin Bin Mohamed Hussain, decided to join his father in the family business and scale it to better heights. It did not take Hafeez long to realise that the business had a lot of room for improvement.
For a start, Hafeez noticed that most of the company’s administrative work was done manually using Microsoft Excel. He realised that this was unproductive and tedious altogether.
“We were manually enrolling students into our courses via telephone or walk-ins. This was time-consuming as it required a lot of paperwork,” shared Hafeez.
Furthermore, Hafeez noticed that the company was manually submitting their assessment documents online to SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), as part of their claiming process.
He decided that it was time for the company to digitise their process. However, he was not sure of industry standards and which technology would work best for them.
Exploring new areas of transformation
Hafeez had come across SME Centre @SMCCI and decided to reach out, where he was then referred to our Business Advisor, Vinod.
Through explaining MHI Training Master’s current business operations and its plans to digitize, Vinod suggested Hafeez to consider adopting a centralized system for the company.
“I connected MHI Training to a few solution providers for them to explore various options available. I sat down with both parties during these meetings to ensure that the scope of project was clear and would fulfil the client’s objectives,” explained Vinod.
After several rounds of discussion, Hafeez and his team decided to purchase a customized ERP system which would incorporate Operational and Admin functionalities to assist with day-to-day duties.
Enterprise Development Grant
In an effort to offset the cost, Vinod recommended MHI Training to apply for the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG), which supports SMEs in upgrading their business.
“Given the project scope, MHI Training Master qualified for EDG’s Innovation and Productivity pillar, which assists companies who are seeking to enhance their workflow/process through automation,” explained Vinod.
With Vinod’s help, MHI Training successfully applied for EDG, enabling the company to develop their first customised system. The system is scheduled to kick off this April.
“We are excited to have this system in place because with it, we can now have students register for their courses online. The system also allows us to assess our students online and consolidate all the necessary paperwork for claims later on. We hope that this new process will reduce manual labour and allow us to allocate our resources more effectively,” shared Hafeez.
