Mr Akbar Abdul Kader
Mr Akbar Abdul Kader is currently the Vice-President of the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SMCCI) and Chairman of the SME Centre @ SMCCI. Outside his strategic roles in SMCCI and SME Centre, Akbar serves the community and the general public through his involvement in various governmental committees like COMPASS (Community and Parents in Support of Schools), Businesses for Families Council, Working Group Committee, Education, (National Integration Council) and MENDAKI Board. He is also an entrepreneur with interests in construction and the food and beverage sector. Always an advocate of “working smart and working safe”, he hopes to be able to rally the SMEs towards treating safety as the way to increase productivity and a social responsibility. Akbar graduated in 1986 from Nanyang Technological Institute with a degree in Bachelor in Engineering (Civil). He also has a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from SIM.
